Awards: The Biftas

SDC 2000: Contents Bottom

Let's get something straight from the beginning, the SDC doesn't please everyone. No matter how you cut it, this 8 - 10 day event in August is going to get under somebody's skin. In fact, some get downright annoyed at the whole business.

And they like to say so.

We think this is good because it helps us understand how to make things better... How to see our "blind spots"... How to better evolve ourselves and all that sort of thing...

In foreseeing this, we inaugurated the "Bifta Awards" to honor those who articulate an opposing viewpoint. No one is ever directly identified in a "Bifta Award", and the overriding concern is that it's all in fun...

But it's still a very touchy subject because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, or to have any sadness associated with our SDC. The SDC is for fun!

So as a point of professional courtesy, all nominees for "Bifta Awards" were asked via private email for their consent. Further, they were given the opportunity to examine this page before it went airborne...

One nominee bluntly refused the award, and his wishes are respected. The other nominee, in a breathtaking display of courage and chivalry, accepted the award...

So without further ado, please join us in a salute to this year's Bifta Award winner! In keeping with the spirit of having fun, the recipient of this award is not named.

Just as a side-note, however, we have reserved http://www.bifta.com and may wish to do something there later...

Editor's note: Due to regulations, the staff and management of Totally Official dot Com must decline comment on the etymology of "bifta". If you don't know what it means, think bovine, think Wales, think aue, and extrapolate from there.

And to the Biftas: Just because we didn't say who you are doesn't mean we don't know who you are.

This editorial comment has been brought to you by Totally Official dot Com. Have a nice day.
